Good Questions

Everything guests ask before they arrive

Bookings, dress code, deposits, the salons, the cellar — the honest answers, gathered by the concierge desk over thirty-eight years of evenings.

Reservations

Booking your evening

Dining reservations open 60 days ahead; members book 14 days earlier. The chef’s table opens 30 days ahead and is usually gone within hours — join the waitlist and we call you first.
Standard dining tables do not. Parties of eight or more hold $50 per guest, and salons take 30% — every deposit is credited to your evening’s account in full.
Up to 48 hours before your sitting, freely — deposits return in full. Inside 48 hours we hold the amount as house credit for twelve months.
The bar rail and terrace always keep space for walk-ins. The dining room fills on weekends — a booking is the safer bet.
Dress & Entry

At the door

Smart elegant from 18:00; black tie is encouraged in the salons after 20:00. The host desk keeps loaner jackets, shawls and shoes — nobody is sent home for a missing collar.
Guests must be 18+ for the salon floor and lounge after 21:00. The dining room and Sunday brunch welcome younger guests with their party.
The public entrance faces Whiteman Street; valet receiving runs from the laneway. Salon guests use the private lift — your confirmation names the right door.
Cellared bottles are welcome at $60 corkage; the sommelier will decant and pour it properly. The reserve cellar tends to win the comparison, though.
Money Matters

Payments & deposits

All major cards, cash, house ledger accounts for members, and BTC / ETH / USDT / USDC through the concierge desk at a locked 15-minute quote.
Every settled bill earns an entry. Registered checks are drawn at midnight in the lounge; compliments range from champagne to a salon upgrade.
Deposits are refundable to 48 hours before your booking, then held as credit for twelve months. Special cases are reviewed by the duty manager — see the refunds page.
Corporate and full-venue hires may settle by invoice on 14-day terms, agreed in the event contract with our events office.
The Salon Floor

Gaming questions

Baccarat, single-zero roulette, blackjack and two poker felts. Salon One is baccarat-only; the Card Room runs tournaments and cash play.
Salon entry requires a dinner reservation or a membership — there is no standalone gaming admission. The house keeps the room for guests of the kitchen.
Yes — quarterly external assessment of equipment and procedures, plus logged card and wheel rotation every shift.
Minimums start at $25 in the lounge and $100 in Salon One; maximums are set per room. Higher-limit arrangements are arranged privately with the pit manager.
Rules of the House

Salon etiquette, plainly

Four agreements every salon guest makes — designed to keep the room calm, the games honest and the evening long.

Responsible gaming

Limits, cooling-off and self-exclusion are handled quietly by the pit manager. The room always says yes to a pause.

The pit manager

On duty every evening — ask any dealer for an introduction if you need limits, rulings or arrangements.

Chips are purchased and redeemed at the table or the cage. Wins settle in cash, card or ledger credit; the house holds winnings in your deposit locker on request.
Cards stay on the felt, phones stay in pockets during hands, and the dealer’s call stands. The pit manager rules on disputes — politely, finally.
No cameras on the salon floor. The dining room and garden are yours to photograph; other guests’ privacy travels with them.
Your party is welcome at your table. Unregistered joiners are seated only after the host confirms — the room is never crowded by surprise.
Membership

The club

A 14-day earlier booking window, lounge access until 02:00 and the members’ letter — most guests find the window alone is worth it.
Yes — pay the difference pro-rata and the new privileges start that evening. Downgrades take effect at renewal.
One point per $20 spent anywhere in the house. Points redeem against dining, services and gift-shop pieces — never expire while membership is active.
